The Sailor on the Rock is a very common reel in Irish traditional music sessions worldwide but there is nothing common about the tasty trio who feature on this recording who have performed as The Sailors on the Rocks aboard the floating festival at sea known as the Joanie Madden Folk’N Irish Cruise. The group was spawned on one of the annual cruises by the very creative Madden who wanted to welcome her passengers aboard with music from three of her most seasoned musicians whose laid-back approach and their collective musical mastery and skills would immediately set the tone for a memorable week at sea.
