the peridots · Steve, Stan, Pete, Dublin. When the Modern Heirs played their first gig –Sutton, supporting the Virgin Prunes, there were 13 in the band. We became the peridots because anytime the band got mentions, Steve was always mentioned. We chanced on the name because we couldn’t think of anything less fitting. Instruments: - Kawai synth, Transcendent 2000 – built by a school friend A really crappy rhythm machine bought for £40. An eight channel mixer. An almond shaped guitar. A multiplex effects box – dropped the note by an octave – so he could play bass and lead. April 1980 – recorded live (no sequences, editing, or pre-recorded stuff) eight tracks in eight days.
