Music for Whales

Music for Whales. Three songs that came about during late nights spent in Dublin and Barcelona with nothing but a guitar and a small synthesiser. Everything starts with building a loop on a drum machine and then seeing what synths can be layered on top before finally adding in the guitar. I've always written standard songs with lyrics and clearly defined sections so this is an experiment in keeping things loose. When you record music you play each part until it's perfect. This has its obvious benefits but there's a joyous energy to playing something for the first time that gets lost in the process. There's a fluidity that comes from playing undefined parts to as yet undefined songs.
