THE BOY was a character I created back in 2007 as a way of expressing, through a mix of humour and classic pop music, a growing sense of bewilderment at the modern world we live in. As with David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and Charlie Chaplin’s The Tramp, though he was more than just fiction. I soon began to see aspects of myself in him. My English childhood and my fears for our future. But also, a frustration at a loss of a romantic dream of a nation that, in reality, maybe never really was.
