Far Away Places.

When 2020 brought COVID 19 to our shores Sammy decided to used the ‘lockdown period’ to work on a project he had been thinking about for more than ten years. Growing up in Belfast, he was taught British history and knew very little about Irish history. As he read and began to visit sites like Skibbereen Heritage and The Dunbrody Famine Ship centres to gather more information about the famine years and the dispersion of the Irish people, the songs came quickly. Obviously bringing other singers and players into the studio was not going to be possible, yet this very fact helped to bring together people from around the world to contribute to the songs.
