Vestige, the debut album by Irish singer-songwriter Ross A., is an aptly titled offering with its traces of something lost, rediscovered by journeying through abstract landscapes of memory. Offering a heady brew of narrative-laden alternative folk, each of its eight tracks is a journey unto itself, while recurring themes interweave throughout its 44-minute runtime to create a captivating dreamscape. His influences, from Dylan to Morricone, are manifold and wide-ranging, yet they coalesce seamlessly to create a vibrant sonic environment that is both familiar and always surprising.
