“The Last Time” is the emotional centrepiece of ‘Severance’ — a reimagining of the 1987 Agnetha Fältskog track written by Robin Randall, Judithe Randall & Jeff Law. Originally a soft-rock ballad produced by Peter Cetera, Robert O’Connor and producer Gareth Shortland transform it into a shimmering electro-pop moment steeped in Scandinavian melancholy, trance-lite atmospherics, and widescreen emotional clarity. Recorded with Richey McCourt in early 2022, “The Last Time” became a breakthrough moment upon release — landing on numerous playlists thanks to its ABBA lineage, and further amplified by the coinciding launch of ABBA Voyage the same day.
