Summer Is Waiting

“Summer Is Waiting” marked the true starting point of the 'Swimming Against The Tide' era, released in June 2023 while the album was still in its earliest stages. Written that February, the song was born from a place of urgency — a message of hope for two friends who were struggling — and became the first piece of music Robert O’Connor felt compelled to release after the success of his breakthrough 'Severance' EP. Sonically, the track signalled a shift. Where 'Severance' leaned into early-00s trance revivalism, "Summer Is Waiting" embraced a more atmospheric, Balearic-influenced palette inspired by Café Del Mar and the golden age of Chillout compilations.
