“Save You” marked a major turning point on the road to ‘Severance’ — a track that reconnected Robert O’Connor with the electronic influences that would define the entire EP. Originally written during the ‘Transcendence’ era, the first demo was built with Jordan Arteaga (as Skynem GT), but Robert felt the track wasn’t reaching its full emotional impact. Remembering that the earliest inspiration came from Chicane’s “Saltwater”, he approached Gareth Shortland — and the sonic direction shifted instantly.
