In 1987 several session musicians went to the studio to record music with Alt-country artist Podge Lane. Walking into the studio they noticed a small Christmas tree in the middle of the room with old piano pop records sitting just underneath. The musicians and Podge bonded over their shared love of Christmas music and retro pop, thus sparking an idea. What if they took one day of studio time and created an EP of new holiday songs by Podge Lane? Thus Merry & Bright was born. Some of this is true. Mainly the EP being called Merry & Bright.
