Recorded during a residency at Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm in 2019, zeemijl is a new longform composition from Phil Maguire. Maguire brings his lightness of touch to analog synthesis: freezing textures in space, allowing the listener to suspend themselves in glacial washes of sound. Dutch for ‘nautical mile’, the title is a gentle encouragement towards considerations of stasis and wide expanses; porous borders; connections across distances.
