It’s not often that somebody offers you a vintage synthesizer from their garage, but when they do you’ll probably accept it; no matter how many quirks it has, how rusty the screws are or how badly it smells when turned on…. If it turns on. It’s those quirks that Paddy Mulcahy used to his advantage in writing and recording this new album of Improvisations on a (Yamaha) CS10. Recorded in three total sessions, the 32 year old composer acknowledges how taken for granted basic features on an analog synthesizer are in this age of modern recording.
