Confluence by NCH Gamelan Orchestra The music on this album was written especially for the celebrated Irish uilleann piper Mark Redmond, and the principal cellist of Ireland’s National Symphony Orchestra, Martin Johnson. These works were first performed at the New Music Dublin Festival in Ireland’s National Concert Hall on Apr 26th 2025. From the opening Irish slow air to the concluding Javanese gangsaran, this album represents a confluence of diverse musical traditions, from Ireland and Java, to India, to Western classical music and the avant-garde.
