The Roots of the Mountain Ash Embrace The Stone II

A meditative exploration of the subtle tones that breathe from within a 'W Doherty & Co' pump organ as air is pushed through its metal reeds. This piece was created as part of a series of recordings that I made while spending long periods of time lying on the floors of various unused Sweathouses around Co. Leitrim, Ireland, staring up at the corbelled stones and imagining the power of these mysterious curative spaces. Sweathouses were places that most people believe were the Irish versions of saunas. Places of collective healing and restoration. Opinions, however, still vary on why they were built and what they were originally used for.
