A Shimmering

Trick Mist is Cork based artist and multi instrumentalist musician Gavin Murray. His music channels traditional Irish music through an abstract prism conjuring a contemplative liminal landscape between reality and imagination. Shaped by a love of sean nós singing, experimental sound processing, colloquial absurdist lyrics and the writings of Irish mystic John Moriarty his music forges an environment that is simultaneously familiar and transcendent. The genesis of his third album and Moot Tapes debut ‘A Shimmering’ was a series of recording sessions designed to accurately mine the unconscious. "I wanted to create a way of documenting and archiving as many unconscious ideas as possible.
