Balscadden Bay

Balscadden Bay is a small beach located on the outskirts of Howth Village. It can be reached by boat or by descending 60 concrete steps accessed via Balscadden Road. Balscadden is the anglicised version of the Irish name, Baile an Scadáin, which translates as the 'Village of the Herring', the Herring for which Howth was famous for several hundred years, Balscadden bay was chosen as the album name as Balscadden Beach is the setting for one of the original songs on this album (Balscadden Farewell). This album is a collection of folk songs, some very old and some brand new, by male-female duo Dave and Tracy 'McFloosey'.
