'shibui'
Marcus Woods“The concept of the tape is subtle beauty, as shibui is a term in Japanese referring to the aesthetic of simple and unobtrusive beauty.” ‘shibui‘ is the new tape by young beatmaker Marcus Woods on our label District Recordings. According to the Dubliner, the tape was inspired by Yuji Ohno who is a Japanese jazz musician. “His tracks were incredible to listen to,” he explains. “I ended up flipping his tracks from the ‘Captain Future’ OST and from there on it inspired me to create a project using his works and other Japanese samples to create ‘shibui’. The concept of the tape is subtle beauty, as shibui is a term in Japanese referring to the aesthetic of simple and unobtrusive beauty.”
