Do Shamhlaigh Mé Tír Nua… (EP) is the precursor of Macdara Ó Faoláin’s debut solo album, both of which are produced by pianist, composer & arranger Cormac McCarthy. The music on this EP comes from the same world as the album, but is more focused on his solo arrangements. Guests Conor O’ Sullivan (baritone guitar), Johnny McCarthy (flute) & Michael Riordan (double bass) do make contributions however, and set the stage for more collaborations on the upcoming album. Ó Faoláin’s own compositions are the majority of what is to be heard, with the addition of an improvised version of The Lark in the Clear Air and a Gigue from J.S. Bach’s Partita in E major.
