The second CD by the Dublin pairing of violinist David MacKenzie (National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland) & pianist Josh Johnston (his own recordings as well as with Roesy, SJ McArdle, Stewart Agnew and others). They take the swing jazz of Stephan Grappelli as their starting point but add elements of blues and Latin jazz to create a refreshing mix of original compositions, thirteen of which make up this album. The title? Many of David’s pieces were composed on his holidays in Europe, so listen for the relaxing echoes of the South of France and Italy in his brief breaks from a busy orchestral year.
