Beat Tape Vol. 0

I spent the last couple of years compiling a number of beat tapes in order to supply music for Philip Evan's Lightbox film project and the Panoramic Series. They were quite literally tapes. Recorded 'live' directly from my MPC to an old hi-fi system. While it gave the music a lo-fi aesthetic it was more an economic necessity than an artistic choice. In September 2015 I upgraded my home studio set-up with a couple of pieces of new gear including a Tascam digital 8-track. Since upgrading the process I use to record is identical except the tracks are recorded digitally. My set-up is still very basic as I'm not very interested in endless amounts of outboard gear or post-production.
