"Brighid’s Kiss" LUGCD961 (Lughnasa Music) Voted Album of the Year by readers of the Irish Music Magazine in 1996 Roots and Inspiration The foundation of Lá Lugh’s music on “Brighid’s Kiss” is deeply embedded in the Gaelic song tradition of South Ulster, serving as the principal source for their songs and tunes. With this, the band draws upon a rich wellspring of regional heritage and musical lore. For their third album, “Brighid’s Kiss,” Lá Lugh takes inspiration from the ancient Gaelic song dedicated to Brighid of Faughart in County Louth. The band channels this reverence for the female deity Brighid, finding renewed meaning and relevance through both music and song.
