The Devil, Probably II

This is the second release to document the long-distance collaboration between Los Angeles-based saxophonist Patrick Shiroishi (making his fourth appearance on FEF) and two Barcelona improvisors: bassist Àlex Reviriego and percussionist Vasco Trilla. The trio's Bresson-inspired debut appeared on Catalan label Urpa i musell last year. As a combination of remote recordings, these sessions combine spontaneity and deliberation to a greater extent than a typical live improvisation. However the often restrained, introspective mood makes it hard not to imagine the musicians pressed together in a small, dimly lit room.
