The third release by Dublin's Collision Objects, ‘Sense Routines’ is an experiment in generative music programming inspired by Henri Lefebvre's theory of rhythmanalysis and the practice of self-tracking via wearable technology. Lefebvre posited rhythmanalysis as an embodied approach to understanding the biological and structural rhythms of the everyday. The human body, he suggested, contained several rhythms, both simple repetitions and alternating repetitions. The task of the rhythmanalyst was to listen for and to identify rhythms and arrhythmias in the body and consider how they might relate to the temporal and spatial environment.
