Alpeis Καράκας

La Danta (the tapir) are a trio from Caracas, Venezuela, who describe their music as a reaction to the political and economic crisis in their country. The album title alludes to a 2011 film by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, Άλπεις (Alps), also the nickname for the El Ávila mountains north of Caracas. These recordings combine industrial harshness and psychedelic depth, with blasted digital textures encompassing primitive machine repetition and improvisatory unruliness, and can be seen as part of a tradition of disruptive jamming that includes the likes of Throbbing Gristle, Wolfeyes and Gnod.
