East Wall are delighted to present the debut release by Yohahn. Swallowing the Shadow is a devastating exploration of emotion, expressed solely through voice and effects pedals. Opening with a plaintive hymnal quality, Swallowing the Shadow lulls the listener into a false sense of security, meditative and minimal, the pieces shift, sometimes imperceptibly, sometimes suddenly, wordless howls revealing urgency and anguish; the soul laid bare. Both discomforting and joyous, Swallowing the Shadow is an intensely elegiac recording, traversing ambience and industrialism in a way that belies the limited instrumental palette.
