Never the First is a reflection on the fragility of life and the people who keep us anchored. It’s about that heavy, helpless feeling when you realise you aren't in control, and the only thing that matters is the person by your side. It is a meditation on the fact that while time won't give back what it takes, we have the choice to never take a single day for granted. Written in early 2023, the song explores that sudden, sharp realisation of how much we lean on the ones we love—and how quickly loved ones can slip through our fingers. The 3/4 time signature lends a rhythmic, waltz-like pace to the track, mirroring the steady but relentless passage of time.
