listening between poles celebrates the power, wonderment and abundance of sonic beauty still present within two of our worlds most extraordinary places: the Arctic and Antarctic. The four compositions on this album, which feature the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Isabelle O’Connell and Barbara Luneberg, present a taste of the range, diversity and richness of audible and inaudible sounds held within our two poles. The album is supported by the The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. In 2013, I first visited the high Arctic as a participant of The Arctic Circle Residency, to listen and field record above, inside and below the ice.
