Where The Bog Is

Ciarán MacMathuna made many a visit to Sliabh Luachra where he recorded and collected the music of local legends Padraig O’Keeffe, Denis Murphy, Johnny O’Leary and many more. On one such occasion he managed to get a recording of Padraig O’Keeffe speaking, one of the only recordings of O’Keeffes voice that we know of. When asked if he could describe his native townland Glountane, and where it lies, Padraig wittingly replied…. “Where the bog is”. This is our debut album. It was recorded in Tureencahill National School and not too far from “where the bog is”. This is an expression of our respect and appreciation for the music and history of our native Sliabh Luachra.
