Encounters is a 'fusion' album, a collection of famous Traditional Irish and Latin instrumental pieces, and other popular tunes, specially arranged for Celtic and Latin instruments. The idea was first proposed to me by producer Luis Alfredo Diaz, and the album was recorded in Lima, Peru in Julio Ortega's studio over the period of a month in January 2013. We had to work to get the balance between the Irish and Latin styles authentic, yet happily blending and representing both cultures. There were a lot of ideas flying around and it was great fun! I always enjoy working with other musicians and the ones on this album are some of the best!
