Hommage to Hammershøi

In November 2021, the amazingly talented Lithuanian composer Justina Jaruševičiūtė posted a couple of images of paintings by the Danish artist Hammershøi on her Instagram feed. I had never seen any of his works but immediately the scope for developing narrative music from his paintings was attractive to me. I am so grateful to Justina for bringing his work to my attention and thus I dedicate the music to her with thanks for the inspiration she gifted me. In the first, "Dancing Memory" which was inspired by "Interior with Ida in a white dress", I imagine a woman trapped in her current life.
