"War & Peace" is an album of haunting electronica that depicts the second world war through great composition and chilling sound design. From the very beginning it captures a sense of time. It is not an easy task to create music that represents an era so different from the one in which it was made but Ambient Mechanics has done so with great skill. Opening track "Calm Before the Storm" portrays a genuine sense of peace, followed by the wonderfully tense "A Call to Arms". The rest of the album has a strong emphasis on creating imagery in the mind of the listener, with songs like "Spitfire" and "Beneath the Waves" painting strong pictures of their subjects.
