Image: caterpillar of Cossus cossus, the goat moth, is a moth of the family Cossidae. It is found in Northern Africa, Asia and Europe. Goat moth. Adults: these moths do not feed as adults. Larvae: eat the wood of deciduous trees. The waste and sap they produce while eating leaks out of their nest hole and attracts many other insect species, including the red admiral butterfly.
